Center for Human Health and Nutrition (PKGM) Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM in collaboration with the Directorate of Marine Services of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of the Republic of Indonesia held a Virtual Workshop “Study of Standards of Nutritional Value in Salt as an Effort to Support Overcoming Health Problems in Society ”. The workshop took place on Wednesday, 18 November 2020 at 09.00 – 12.00 WIB through the Zoom Meeting. It was attended by representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, salt farmers and producers in Indonesia, academics and researchers, Professional Organizations, and PT Garam (Limited Participants for Invitation Only). This workshop discussed the Review of SNI for Iodized Salt for Consumption in Indonesia. Head of research as well as chairman of the Center for Health and Human Nutrition (PKGM) FK-KMK UGM, Dr. Siti Helmyati, DCN., M.Kes in her introduction said that this workshop was the last series of the implementation process from the beginning of the webinar and FGD activities. It was held to achieve the goal so that the existing salt in the community is able to improve the consumption pattern of the community and the production of salt farmers can be absorbed for domestic consumption. The next session was the presentation of the Draft Academic Paper by Dr. Rimawati, SH, M.Hum, Faculty of Law UGM, in her presentation stated that based on this academic study it is very important to set the upper limit of NaCI levels in iodized salt consumption in Indonesia from various basic aspects (philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations).
All responses and input from the workshop participants this time will be summarized and discussed again for the improvement of the draft academic manuscript.
